Grand Canyon Trip - Part One.
Due to lack of any extended periods of time which I may devote wholly to the world of blogging, my narrative concerning my trip to the Grand Canyon will have to be posted in pieces. Which I guess could be a good thing if it keeps my readers coming back to my blog (all two or three of them...).
Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I departed San Antonio International Airport at around 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14th, having obtained permission to work only half of the day. Upon arriving in Denver, I was met by my Dad, and siblings Jonathan, Amy, Michael, and Debbie, who greeted me with lots of hugs. After making a stop at the store to pick up food items for my three days of hiking, we headed home. The rest of the day was spent packing, running various errands in search of the few odds and ends that I didn't already have, and enjoying being with my family.
The plan was for our house to be the final meeting point for everyone before beginning the thirteen hour treck to the South Rim of the canyon. Mark and Matthew Searcy were the first to arrive on Wednesday morning, followed shortly after by the Gibas' (Ron and four of his kids - Ashley, Tyler, Daniel, and Peter), Chad and Megan Roach, and Merideth Blalock, bringing the group to 11 people in all.
Oh, and here's some more pictures...
